Meet Author and playwright Vanessa Richardson

I asked the author and playwright Vanessa Richardson to share with us her work and life experience and here is what she had to say:
Hello J.K., thank you for the invitation to share my passions with your readers. I am an author, poet, and playwright. I wrote my freshman book titled The Certain Ones: You’re not Forsaken. You’re Chosen for Purpose; in which discuss a rare women’s health issue that I was diagnosed with called: Catamenial Pnuemothorax. CP, affects 1%-5% of women here in America. This is when a woman has her menstrual cycle and in the matter of 48-72 hours her lung collapses. This health issue is too silent of an issue; it is my goal to give it a voice, to be heard loud and clear.
J.K., I am delighted to announce my sophomore a Christian fiction suspense, Love Found Me; will be released December of this year, under my new publishing house GSH Publishing. Too, I am working on my next stage production: God Knows My Heart! which is slated to be performed on December 19th, 2009. If interested in attending an performance; please email me at vanessajackso90@hotmail.
I have been a playwright for many years now. I can remember growing up how I frequented Broadway often. I was immediately bitten by the acting bug. I remember the lights dimming. The red satin curtain opening. The band was playing loudly; hyping up the audience for the performance to come. My heart began to accelerate in anticipation. Even at that young age I was soaking it all in. During the stage performances all I could think of; was how I wanted to be on that stage performing!
I enrolled in some acting classes. I’d consulted with several acting agents. I went on countless auditions. It was both fun and expensive! Competition as in the literary world is fierce. You had to distinguish yourself from the rest of the pack. It took me awhile to realize this but I got it. I love several playwrights’ works, I will not drop any names. I do not study their crafts. Or watch them to much. My works are originals. I rarely watch movies or television.
Eventually I decided to branch off on my own. You have to be extraordinary at what you do. Do not look to the left of the right. Focus on you. Hear your critic’s with out hearing them. Be willing to listen and learn. Develop a thick skin. Know you’re not an island unto yourself. Everyone needs someone sometimes.
In the end know that you are not perfect—mistakes will be made. Learn from them. Most importantly the best plan as my leader always tells me is this: To always have a plan B. That’s real talk. I love hearing from readers. Please stop by my virtual home and leave me a message or two. http://www.authorvanessarichardson.com/ http://thecertainones.blogspot.com/

Thanks Vanessa for sharing with us your work and your life. Keep doing the great work you are doing and keep touching people's lives in so many ways you have been doing.
